Small Boat Bearing Localization using Time-Difference of Arrival
نویسنده
چکیده
This tutorial involves implementing sonar processing algorithms and applying them to real underwater hydrophone data collected in the ocean. The goal of the tutorial is to learn how to apply the time-difference of arrival (TDOA) method to acoustic data recorded on two hydrophones to obtain a bearing estimate. TDOA processing is a classic passive sonar problem, and is also forms basis for many other localization technologies, such as GPS. It is considered “front-end” processing since it is operates directly on sensor-level data by converting raw acoustic data into some meaningful position information about the target.

Localization of a noisy broadband surface target using time differences of multipath arrivals.
Previous studies [Tiemann et al., J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 120, 2355-2365 (2006)] have reported the localization of marine mammals in 3-D from their clicks using multipath arrivals. Bathymetric variations were advantageously used to predict multipath arrival times with a raytracer. These arrivals are directly discernible from the time series for impulsive sources, such as whale clicks, but extension...

In this paper, we study performance limits of sensor localization from a novel perspective. Specifically, we consider the Cramér-Rao Lower Bound (CRLB) in single-hop sensor localization using measurements from received signal strength (RSS), time of arrival (TOA) and bearing, respectively, but differently from the existing work, we statistically analyze the trace of the associated CRLB matrix (...

Determination of mobile localization with time of arrival (TOA) signal is a requirement in cellular mobile communication. In some of the previous methods, localization with non-line-of-sight (NLOS) paths can lead to large position error. Also for simplicity, in most simulations suppose non stationary actual environments as stationary. This paper proposes (residual test + recursive least square)...

In this paper, we consider using angle of arrival information (bearing) for localization in robot networks. The essential property we require in this paper is that a node can infer heading information from its neighbors. We address the uniqueness of network localization solutions by the theory of globally rigid graphs. We show that while the parallel rigidity problem for formations with bearing...
متن کاملExploiting geometry for improved hybrid AOA/TDOA-based localization
In this paper we examine the geometrically constrained optimization approach to localization with hybrid bearing (angle of arrival, AOA) and time difference of arrival (TDOA) sensors. In particular, we formulate a constraint on the measurement errors which is then used along with constraint-based optimization tools in order to estimate the maximum likelihood values of the errors given an approp...
